クリスマスのやすみ！

まいねんクリスマスにかぞくはペンシルパニアのピッツバーグのうちにいて、パーティをします。しゅくだいがありませんから、ゆっくりします。そうじもしません！あまりさびしくなくて、たいへんじゃなくて、ひまです！

ろくじからいちじかんはんぐらいそふとそぼといっしょにばんごはんをたべます。チキンスープととやさいとぶたにくをたべて、　エッグノッグをのみます。たいていにぎやかで、おもしろいです。いつもたのしくて、いいです。そして、つまらなくありません。

かぞくはファイアプレースのちかくのクリスマスの木の下にプレゼントがあります。クリスマスの木は大きくてあかるい 木です。

サンタクロースはたくさんプレゼントがあります！だから、きょうだいとサンタクロースをまって、ねません。ばんきょうだいといっしょにサンタクロースにてがみをかいて、クッキーをつくります。きょねんあねはシュガーのクッキーをつくりました。おいしかったです！

ことしクリスマスが土曜日にあります. 私はうれしいです！

サンクスギビングのやすみ！

せんしゅうのしゅうまつノートルダムだいがくからワシントンデイーシーのちかくのバージニアまでいきました。わたしのおじ(uncle)とおば(aunt)とちち(father)とはは(mother)といもうと(younger sister)もいきました。バージニアにそふとそぶ(grandma & grandpa)のうちがあります。かぞく(family)としっくりしました。

しゅくだいをしませんでした。I will probably regret my lack of studying, but I had an amazing break. Unfortunately, 3 weeks separate me and Christmas break! :(

しゅうまつにたくさんものをします！ まいしゅうわたしはいそがしいです。
いつも金曜日と土曜日にともだちにあいます。
たいていしゅくだいをします。そして、たくさんメールをかきます。
ときどきへやでそうじとせんたくをします。

金曜日にりょうしんにでんわをかけます。I told them about where I think I am going to intern next summer. (It keeps changing, but as of right now:) ボーイング(Boeing)でしごとをします。わたしはとてもうれしいです！

ハロウィン (Halloween)

I was speaking with my best friend who is studying abroad in Germany today. Considering it's the 28th of October, I asked her what she was going to be for  ハロウィン this weekend. I was surprised to hear that the holiday is not a very big deal over there. This made me curious as to how the holiday is celebrated in Japan. I was reading a few articles online, and one said that Haunted Houses are big in the summer! This seemed odd to me considering summer is usually an inappropriate time to go to a Haunted House. I don't think I've ever heard of a Haunted House being open in the summer, even. O-bon, which celebrates the memory of dead relatives, is celebrated in the summer, though. This explains the seemingly odd time of celebration.

あさやすみ！

ペンシルバニアでわたしのうちにかりました。わたしのベッドでたくさんねました。りょうしんとそふはとばんごはんおたべました。


にほんごおべんきょしました。かんじはむずかしくて、たいへんです(Kanji is difficult and tough!)！そして、こうがくのしゅかだいおしました。そして、かいものにいきました。そうじとせんたくおしました(I did cleaning and laundry)。


でも、あそびました(I also had fun!)！ジョギングおしました(I went jogging)。そして、わたしのうちでゆっくりしました(I relaxed at my home)。


もくようびにペンシルバニアからカリフォルニアまでいきました(I went from Pennsylvania to California)! I had an interview with Raytheon for an internship next summer. In fact, Raytheon paid for my flight and hotel to El Segundo! :) While the company does a lot of things with the military and defense, the specific location I interviewed at focuses on Space and Airborne Systems. During the day, they showed us some of their labs where they test the equipment before they give it to their customers, such as NASA. I would LOVE to work there so I really hope I get it.

わたしのりょう！
わたしのりょうはライエンホール(Ryan Hall)です。ノートルダム大学のほんやのとなり(next to)です。デバートロ(Debartolo)のちかく(close to)です。わたしのりょうはあまりふるくありません。わたしのりょうはあたらしいたてものです。とてもりっぱです。ですから(so, therefore)ひるい(spacious)へやがあります。


ちいさいたいいくかん(gym)があります。そして、あかるい(bright)トイレがあります。わたしのRectorはいぬがあります。（いぬはかわいい(cute)です！）でも、ラボがありません。

せんしゅうのしゅまつに24-Hour Spaceでパーティにいきました。Junk foodをたべました。(There was a chocolate fountain!)わたしのりょうはよくきんようびに24-Hour Spaceでパーティがあります。ときどきJunk foodをたべます。

Notre Dame vs. Pitt!

ペンシルバニアのピツバグからきました。どようびにわたしのごりょうしんはノートルダムだいがくにきました。They tailgated with my friends and me! (And of course, わたしのごりょおしんはノートルダムだいがくのフットボールをみました。) くじはんごろRed Robinでたべました。It was really good to see them. :)

きのうともだちのアパート(friend's apartment)にいきました。アパートはりっぱです。でもあまりおおきくありません。Mahi-mahiとpotatoesとcarrotsとzucchiniをたべました。He actually made ばんごはん and it was delicious. I need to learn how to cook. 

しゅうまつ

わたしはきのうさんじはんにノートルダムだいがくのフットボール(Notre Dame University football)をみました。しちじごろがくしょく(cafeteria)でばんごはんをたべました。そしてじゅういちじごろともだちのアパート(friend's apartment)のパーティ(party) にいきました。ごぜんさんじごろねました。


きょうじゅういちじにあさごはんをたべました。じゅうじはんにとしょかんでべんきょうしました。たいていしちじにばんごはんをたべます。でもきょうごじにばんごはんをたべます。じゅうじごろりょう(dorm)でしゅくだいをします。ごぜんにじにねます。

Who am I?

はじめまして。テイラーです。どうぞよろしく。

わたしはノートルダム(Notre Dame)だいがくのだいがくせいです。

さんねんせいです。せんこうはこうがくです。わたしはあめりかじんです。

Although I was very young when she was famous, I grew up watching Midori Ito amaze the crowds on the ice. Midori Ito was the first woman to to land a triple jump combination & triple axel in a figure skating competition. In fact, her awesome abilities earned her a silver medal in the 1992 Olympics. My parents loved her so much that they named my younger sister after her; her full name is Julianne Midori Taylor.

Simply fantastic.

Better Late than Never!

こんいちは！

So I entered Japanese class a week late, but I have wanted to study Japanese as long as I can remember. I'm half-Japanese, and my mom's family is very involved in the culture through Judo. All three of my mother's sisters have their own Judo Club; in fact, my uncle has earned a silver medal in the Olympics and trains judo athletes with Olympics dreams. They often get to travel internationally, specifically to Japan.

My uncle is in the top row on the far left, and my aunt is in the center of the third row holding twins. They are posing with some of the members of their dojo.

Clearly, I am constantly teased by fascinating Japanese culture but cannot speak a single word. As an electrical engineer, the only free space for random electives that I have is due to high school AP credit. In addition, underclassmen engineers are required to take lots of prerequisites. Thus, although Notre Dame offers us the opportunity to take Japanese, I haven't been able to enroll in the class until now! During the semester, I hope my reading, writing, and conversational skills significantly improve. I know a language comes with time and practice, but I would love if I could understand (even a little!) my relatives when they speak Japanese.
